Our Framework

The Responsive Instruction Framework

A research-based framework that helps teachers make strategic instructional decisions at every stage of learning — so multilingual learners engage with grade-level content without lowering the bar.

Professional Learning Formats

Different formats serve different learning purposes. We design each engagement around what the context calls for — not a one-size-fits-all model. The question isn't which format to choose. It's which one to use when, and for what.

In-Person Workshops

Interactive, facilitated sessions delivered on-site. Designed around your schedule, your staff, and your context.

Asynchronous eLearning

Self-paced courses teachers engage with on their own schedule. Our asynchronous courses include an embedded AI coaching companion that provides personalized feedback at key points in the learning.

Blended Learning

A blended approach combines the flexibility of asynchronous learning with the collaborative processing that comes from working alongside colleagues. At its best, this looks like a flipped experience — teachers explore new content independently and then expand and deepen their application together in person. Each format does what the other cannot.

"Where we're going, we don't need roads."

— Doc Brown

The Responsive Instruction Framework is available today through in-person professional learning and traditional asynchronous eLearning — structured modules, interactive resources, and practical tools teachers can use immediately in their classrooms. In 2026, we're introducing something new.

Course 02: Process — Fall 2026

Course 03: Showcase — Fall 2026

But what is it?

You've seen the little assistant that pops up in the corner of a website — "How may I help you today?" — offering a handful of preset topics and scripted responses. That's the chatbot most people know.

But what if instead of selecting from a menu, you could just think out loud — and get a response that actually engages with what you said?

That's Myrtle. A coaching companion built directly into the learning experience and grounded in the MPM Essentials knowledge base — responsive to each teacher's specific context and input, designed to build reflective practice and provide meaningful feedback on the application of course content.

Think of it as having a knowledgeable colleague alongside you as you work through each lesson.

Throughout each lesson, Myrtle engages your teachers in structured coaching interactions — helping them think through instructional decisions, reflect on their practice, and connect what they're learning to the real students in front of them. Every response is grounded in their specific context, not a generic teaching scenario. Your teachers aren't passive observers in this process. They're the ones doing the thinking.

At the end of each lesson, your teachers have more than a completion record. They have Field Notes — a personal document containing their own reflections and takeaways alongside a summarized account of each coaching session with Myrtle. Available to download or print, it's a record of their own professional reasoning they can actually return to.

What Our Partners Are Saying

Don't just take our word for it. Here's what partners say about their experience working with MPM Essentials.

Meet Michael

Michael Molnar, founder of MPM Essentials

CAGS in Educational Leadership — Salem State University

M.S. in ESL — UMass Boston

Michael Molnar is the founder of MPM Essentials and the creator of the Responsive Instruction Framework — bringing 30 years of experience helping educators build the capacity to serve multilingual learners through responsive, research-based instruction.

Michael's work begins with discovery — understanding what districts have already invested in and finding where ML-responsive instruction can amplify those investments rather than compete with them. His experience spans the full teacher development pipeline: ESL classroom teacher, building principal, new teacher mentor, RBT in-district instructor, and adjunct professor at Gordon College.

He has partnered with urban and suburban districts across Massachusetts and collaborated with national organizations including Modern Classrooms Project and The Equity Imperative.

"Nothing can replace a well-informed, skillful teacher."
