Professional Background

Before founding MPM Essentials, Michael served in a number of roles as both a teacher and an administrator where he developed expertise in designing curriculum and professional learning experiences that transform teaching practices. His work with diverse school districts has given him unique insights into the challenges and opportunities in today's educational landscape. 

Throughout his career, Michael has served as an instructional coach and curriculum director, where he gained firsthand understanding of the professional learning needs of educators working with diverse student populations. 

Expertise & Specialization

Michael specializes in supporting educators who work with multilingual learners, developing academic vocabulary instruction, and implementing effective backward design lesson planning. 

His approach combines research-based strategies with practical classroom applications that teachers can implement immediately, resulting in increased student engagement.He also collaborates with school districts and educational consultants to develop and transform their own content into dynamic, blended professional learning experiences. 

Michael helps partners increase their impact and flexibility by integrating interactive digital resources (such as eLearning modules and interactive resources) with their in-person training.

Education & Credentials

With a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Educational Leadership from Salem State University and a Master's in ESL from UMass-Boston, Michael has worked as a district coach, an ESL teacher, the Assistant Director of Language Support, and a building principal at both the school and district level. His combination of classroom experience and administrative perspective enables him to create professional learning that is both practical and aligned with district goals.

Outside the Office When not designing professional learning experiences, Michael enjoys listening to music and reading all things Tolkien. 

He also loves spending time with his family, including his two rescue pups, Callie and Macie.
